TK-22 Rebuild Kits

BACK TO TK-22 HOME

There are several kits available for rebuilding TK-22 carburetors on KZ motorcycles. They are very similar to each other, if not identical. They both come with adjustable versions of the stock profile needles, new fuel inlet valves, #92 main jets, #32 pilot jets, air screws, and many gaskets and o-rings. The first kit is:

K&L rebuild kit 18-2462

This kit comes with a Y77 needle which is a replica of the factory 4D93, which is an adjustable version of the stock 4D92 needle. Setting the clip at the second notch from the top matches the stock 4D92 needle. It also comes with main jets and pilot jets which are almost identical to stock TK22 parts.

Another rebuild kit is:
Keyster rebuild kit KK-0049

This kit seems to be the same as the K&L 18-2462... same needles, jets, etc.

Both rebuild kits come with orings on the air screws, but both also have an extra oring for the air screw. The K&L one seems too large, though. The Keyster ones seems right.

Here are some of the o-ring dimensions:
(ID means inside diameter of the entire "O".)
(CS means the cross sectional diameter of the ring material.)

Main jet holder / emulsifier tube uses 4.8mmID x 1.95mmCS
Drain screw uses 4.8mmID x 1.95mmCS and a 2.50mmID x 1.50mmCS
Air screw has 3.25mmID x 1.40mmCS

Here are some dimensions of areas where o-rings are installed:
Drain screw oring areas: Head-> 5.02mmOD x 2.15mm tall, Tip-> 2.81mmOD x 1.63mm tall

Fake Keyster Kits KK049:
There are now what appear to be fake Keyster rebuild kits available. They should be avoided due to problematic needles. See the page on the three needle types for details on the needles. But some/most of the other parts are usable. The fuel valves seem to work ok, along with some of the gaskets. No close inspection was done on the jet sizes and measurements. This page will be updated when more information is available.

The fake kit does not actually have a name on it, but it uses Keyster's kit number.

Here is what the fake Keyster kit looks like (some parts are not shown as they were actually installed in a bike):
